Published on October 30, 2026
Today, October 30, 2026, Jorge Dominguez Moreno (46, of Fresno) was sentenced to four years and four months determinate, followed by 175 years to life in state prison, for the repeated sexual abuse and assault of two minor family members. Fresno County Superior Court Judge Alvin Harrell imposed the sentence following a jury's conviction of Moreno on all ten counts, multiple victim enhancements, and all aggravating factors on September 1, 2026. The trial began August 17, 2026.
The convictions stem from years of sexual abuse perpetrated against Moreno's stepdaughter and step-granddaughter, beginning when the victims were children. The abuse involved repeated sexual assaults, including acts of rape and other forcible sexual offenses.
The District Attorney's Office recognizes the courage it takes for survivors of childhood sexual abuse to come forward and participate in the pursuit of justice. We commend these survivors for their courage.
Under California's Elderly Parole Program, Moreno will be eligible for elderly parole consideration after serving 20 years of his prison sentence and reaching the age of 50. Eligibility is subject to applicable law and does not guarantee release.
The Fresno County District Attorney's Office extends its appreciation to the Fresno Police Department and Detective Joel Sanchez for their thorough investigation and dedication to this case.
This case was successfully prosecuted by Senior Deputy District Attorney Kristin Maxwell of the Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Unit, with assistance from Senior District Attorney Investigator Crystal Gonzalez of the Bureau of Investigations.
