Published on May 06, 2025
The Fresno County District Attorney’s Office has filed charges against Jagat Singh (28, of Fresno) for his role as the driver in a fatal traffic collision that occurred late on the night of May 2, 2025.
It is alleged that just before midnight, Singh was driving a stolen Range Rover southbound on Clovis Avenue, approaching the intersection of Shields Avenue in the City of Fresno. He allegedly ran a red light and crashed into a vehicle carrying three occupants. Two of those individuals—Maddux Greene (18, of Fresno) and Jordan Galvez (19, of Fresno)—were killed in the crash. A third, a juvenile, sustained injuries.
Following the collision, Singh allegedly fled the scene on foot and was later apprehended by responding officers. An investigation by the Fresno Police Department determined that Singh was driving under the influence of alcohol.
The felony complaint filed in Fresno County Superior Court charges Singh with eleven counts:
- Two (2) Counts of MURDER [Penal Code § 187];
- Two (2) Counts of GROSS VEHICULAR MANSLAUGHTER WHILE INTOXICATED [Penal Code § 191.5(a)];
- One (1) Count of DRIVING WITH A BLOOD ALCOHOL CONCENTRATION OVER .08 CAUSING INJURY [Vehicle Code § 23153(b)];
- One (1) Count of DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF ALCOHOL CAUSING INJURY [Vehicle Code § 23153(a)];
- One (1) Count of FAILURE TO PERFORM A DUTY FOLLOWING A FATAL COLLISION [Vehicle Code § 20001(b)(2)];
- One (1) Count of FAILURE TO STOP AT A RED LIGHT [Vehicle Code § 21453(a)];
- One (1) Count of DRIVING WITH A BAC OF .01% OR HIGHER WHILE ON DUI PROBATION [Vehicle Code § 23154(a)];
- One (1) Count of UNLAWFUL DRIVING OR TAKING OF A VEHICLE [Vehicle Code § 10851(a)];
- One (1) Count of POSSESSION OF A STOLEN AUTOMOBILE [Penal Code § 496d(a)].
Singh was previously convicted of driving under the influence in Fresno County in 2023. At the time of that conviction, he was expressly advised by the court that impaired driving is dangerous to human life, and that future violations resulting in death could lead to a murder charge. Singh was still on probation for that conviction at the time of the May 2 collision.
If convicted on all charges, Singh faces a maximum sentence of seven years and eight months, plus a term of 30 years to life in state prison.
Singh remains in custody following his arrest by the Fresno Police Department. He is scheduled to be arraigned on May 7, 2025, in Department 33 of the Fresno Superior Court.
This case is being prosecuted by the Alcohol and Drug Impaired Driver Vertical Prosecution Program. Funding for the program is provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
